Dreaming of Tomorrow (1992)

Oh yes,
dreaming of tomorrow and you and me
And the flowers above the coffee table
Full of dust.
Fermenting inexpensive wine
Walking across a Chinese carpet
Venetian blinds wide open
The sun complimenting the lint
On our second hand love seat.
Waking in the morning to the scent
Of love in the air and proceeding
To add more to it, on the black
Comforter your mother gave you,
Tomorrow it will be on my mint green one –
A never ending cycle of love.
Laundry basket full of dirty jeans,
Socks, underwear, shirts, t-shirts
All mine, all yours.
Allen Ginsberg on my wall
Along with jazz musicians,
Dancers under spot light
Morrison, Dean, naked baby
And your diploma from Douglass.
Place filled with an eagerness
To add more life, a play pen, a crib
The cry of an infant at two in the morning.

And then, at 7am the alarm rang and I woke
And realized I was only
dreaming of tomorrow and you and me.
