We Tug and Pull Each Other

tug-o-war1

We tug and pull each other
There’s never rest between
The ropes we pull are bruising
Sometimes they make us mean

We never rest between
The night and sun rising
Sometimes we act so mean
And yet we keep on climbing

With night and sun rising
We pass our days together
We always keep on climbing
Our promise lasts forever

These days we pass together
Sometimes they’re not so smooth
But this bond still lasts forever
My heart your tears do soothe

Sometimes things aren’t so smooth
Rose stems are filled with thorns
But hearts and tears they soothe
They sound like heaven’s horns

It’s hurtful when we feel
The ropes we pull are bruising
But our love no one can steal
As we tug and pull each other
