What is Love?
Love is not a war film
like Apocalypse Now where the hero
goes through the depths of hell and
returns drenched in blood from murder;
he’s psychologically ruined.
Love is Forrest Gump.
Even though you run and run
and never know what you’re gonna get,
the travels you take together
bring you peace and riches,
till old age.
Love should not be Reservoir Dogs.
Nobody knows anyone’s names
or who they really are and they all betray
and kill each other in the end.
Instead, love should be The Life of Pi.
Even though a few lies are told along the way,
tiger and man honor, respect and cherish
each other’s memories.
Love is not Taxi Driver.
And you’re not Travis Bickle
alone in a soot-filled maze-like city,
demented and disillusioned by life
and failed romance.
Love is more like Avatar.
You don’t need to trust each other
from the very start,
but you build and bond together
until you can’t tell the difference from
where your body ends and hers begins,
because in that instance you become one;
you sacrifice who you were
for who you’ll be together.
That is love.
