{"id":36,"date":"2012-07-02T23:30:06","date_gmt":"2012-07-02T23:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wsantosblog.com\/?page_id=36"},"modified":"2026-06-20T15:44:34","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T15:44:34","slug":"music","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wilsonsantos.blog\/?page_id=36","title":{"rendered":"Audio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a decade of promoting dance parties in New York City and New Jersey, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beatport.com\/artist\/wilson-santos\/3579\" target=\"_blank\">Wilson Santos<\/a> launched his own record label, <em>One Step Beyond Records<\/em> in the fall of 2000, with the debut of the self-tilted, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/grooveshark.com\/#!\/search\/song?q=Wilson+Santos+One+Step+Beyond+(Wilson+Santos++One+Step+Beyond+(Minimalistic+Remix))\" target=\"_blank\">One Step Beyond<\/a>.\u201d This first spoken-word release, was licensed on over 20 compilations by top DJs like Steve Lawler, Terry Francis and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.last.fm\/music\/Victor+Calderone\/Evolve\" target=\"_blank\">Victor Calderone<\/a>, to name a few. From 2001-2005, Santos produced original spoken-word songs and remixes for labels like Defected, Subliminal, Stealth, Fluential, Kult and Credence, including remixes for international dance artists Dirty Vegas and Kathy Brown.&nbsp;In 2002, UK\u2019s Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong, hailed Santos&#8217; production of \u201cJaded Memory\u201d (Defected), as one of the \u201cTop 3 tunes of New Year\u2019s 2002\u201d &nbsp;during a New Year\u2019s broadcast of the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although his record label is no more, Santos&#8217; original spoken-word productions have been featured on numerous compilations in the past 25 years; too many to list here. &nbsp;In 2010, Santos signed a multi-record deal with Kult Records to deliver several spoken-word songs. The first was a duet collaboration of a re-release with&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.beatport.com\/track\/the-music-the-dj-and-me-wilson-santos-lead-vocal-mix\/1285991\" target=\"_blank\">Lula, \u201cThe DJ, The Music and Me.\u201d<\/a>&nbsp; In 2011, Kult released <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beatport.com\/release\/the-church-song\/906602\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;The Church Song.&#8221;<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most recently, Santos&#8217; vocals were sampled by <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/NvSFEQEJtto?si=2khXbTap4WczXs7N\">John Summit<\/a> for his hit single, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/NvSFEQEJtto?si=2khXbTap4WczXs7N\">In Chicago<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can listen to, and buy his music on spotify, itunes, beatport and most other music platforms.
